This Tuesday, some riders from the World Superbike Championship returned to the track for testing in Jerez, with Jonathan Rea being the fastest. Riders from other championships, including MotoGP, also participated in this private session.
Among the WSBK riders, Rea (Pata Prometeon Yamaha) was the fastest, with a lap time of 1m38.931s. The Briton was second on the overall time sheets, just behind a MotoGP rider – Luca Marini (Repsol Honda), according to GPOne.com.
Rea made his debut working with his new chief mechanic, Oriol Pallares, but he has not yet had the opportunity to test the new engine for the Yamaha YZF-R1, which will only be available in January.
Andrea Locatelli, Rea’s teammate, was second among the WSBK riders, followed by Garrett Gerloff, who is testing again with Kawasaki Puccetti. Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS/Ducati) was fourth, with Florian Marino fifth aboard the only Bimota on track today – the regular riders Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani will take over tomorrow.
As for the MotoGP riders, in addition to Marini, Aleix Espargaró participated, securing the third-fastest time overall. Moto2 riders also took part, with Collin Veijer being the fastest in ninth. Riders from the Endurance World Championship and Supersport World Championship were also testing, with Valentin Debise being the fastest in his category.
