Two people have been confirmed dead after severe flooding hit Roswell, New Mexico, leaving the city cut off as roads remain closed. Rescue efforts continued through the night as water levels surged, stranding motorists and sweeping vehicles into the Spring River. While waters have receded in some areas, downtown and parts of the river channel remain flooded. A shelter has been set up at the Eastern New Mexico Fairgrounds, accommodating both people and animals. Authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant as search-and-rescue operations are ongoing.
