Chiefs Quarterback’s Father Arrested Before Super Bowl
In a shocking turn of events, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was arrested just one week before the highly anticipated Super Bowl. Pat Mahomes Sr. was taken into custody in Tyler, Texas, on charges of driving while intoxicated, third or more. He was later released on a $10,000 bond.
According to reports, Mahomes Sr. was pulled over by a Tyler police officer for driving slower than other traffic. It was during this routine traffic stop that the officer noticed an open “tallboy” beer in Mahomes Sr.’s vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the car’s registration had expired over a year ago.
The police affidavit states that Mahomes Sr. admitted to having consumed a few beers before getting behind the wheel. In addition, the officer found an open 16-ounce can of Coors Light in the center console. A field sobriety test was conducted, which recorded 11 clues of impairment. Based on these findings, the officer concluded that Mahomes Sr. was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
As a result of his actions, the 53-year-old former Major League Baseball player is now facing a felony charge. If convicted, he could face a fine of $10,000, along with a potential prison sentence of 2 to 10 years. His driver’s license may also be suspended for up to two years.
Despite this unfortunate incident, Mahomes Sr. is expected to be present at Allegiant Stadium to support his son and the Chiefs as they face off against the San Francisco 49ers on February 11. His daughter-in-law, Brittany Mahomes, has already arrived in Las Vegas with their grandchildren, Sterling and Bronze. Mahomes’ mother, Randi Martin, will also be in attendance, showing her support for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Mahomes’ mother expressed her pride and admiration for her son’s hard work and dedication. She reminisced about the times he always had a ball in his hand and praised his accomplishments on the field. She ended her message by saying, “Enjoy every moment son ❤️.”
It seems that despite the recent events, the Mahomes family remains united and focused on their son’s success.
Mahomes Sr. spoke to reporters about his son’s impressive feat of making his fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years. He expressed his excitement, stating that going back to another Super Bowl is beyond anyone’s imagination. In fact, he even mentioned that they have their sights set on more Super Bowl victories, aiming for three, and then continuing on to four, five, six, seven, eight, and nine.
On Media Day in Las Vegas, just a day after his father’s release from county jail, 28-year-old quarterback Patrick Mahomes addressed reporters. Despite the circumstances, Mahomes remained focused on the upcoming Super Bowl and expressed his gratitude for being back at the big game. He acknowledged his luck in being drafted to Kansas City, having Andy Reid as his coach, and Travis Kelce as his tight end. Mahomes was the Chiefs’ No. 10 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft and ended up with an incredible team.
Kansas City has the opportunity to become the first team in 20 years to win back-to-back Super Bowls. However, Mahomes is not letting the pressure of the game affect him. As long as he gives his all on the field, he can find comfort regardless of the outcome against the 49ers.
