The Boston Celtics are dominating the NBA this season with a league-best 38-12 record. They are proving to be a force to be reckoned with, ranking among the top teams in offensive and defensive ratings. However, there is one area of concern for the Celtics – their bench.
According to reports, the Celtics have shown interest in acquiring Kelly Olynyk, Andre Drummond, and Delon Wright. Olynyk, a former Celtic, has been a consistent contributor on both ends of the court. At 32 years old, he continues to provide solid defense and knock down three-pointers. This season, he is averaging 8.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game for the Utah Jazz.
Drummond, a dominant center known for his rebounding prowess, has been making an impact for the Chicago Bulls. Despite limited playing time, he is averaging 8.3 rebounds and 7.7 points per game. His presence in the paint could provide the Celtics with much-needed frontcourt depth.
Wright, currently playing for the Washington Wizards, brings a combination of three-point shooting and defensive skills to the table. Adding him to the Celtics’ roster could bolster their bench and provide valuable minutes when their star player, Jayson Tatum, is off the court.
As it stands, the Celtics’ bench production ranks a disappointing 26th in the league. This could pose a problem come playoff time, especially when Tatum needs rest. Acquiring Olynyk, Drummond, or Wright could be the solution to this issue and strengthen the Celtics’ chances of success in the postseason.
