PICKLEBALL THREATENS BELOVED STREET HOCKEY RINK, BUT TWO 11-YEAR-OLD GIRLS SAVE THE DAY!
Pickleball, the rebel sport that has been taking over the sports world, met its match in two fearless 11-year-old girls from Philadelphia. Natalie Van Druff and Lilly Walter, known as the Hockey Gals, stood up to protect their cherished street hockey rink at New Hanover Community Park in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania.
The story began when the township officials decided to jump on the pickleball bandwagon, jeopardizing the future of the street hockey rink. But these young hockey players were not about to let that happen. They took action and launched a petition, which quickly gained 900 signatures, to save their beloved rink.
Their efforts paid off, and the rink was saved. Van Druff and Walter’s determination ensured that future generations would have a place to learn and play hockey, make friends, and experience the ups and downs of the game. Their passion and dedication to preserving the rink have inspired the community.
Thanks to the heroic actions of these two young ladies, the local rink will also receive a much-needed facelift. This victory is a testament to the power of standing up for what you believe in and fighting against the odds.
In a world dominated by pickleball, Van Druff and Walter’s triumph over adversity serves as a reminder that sometimes, even the smallest voices can make a big difference. Their story is an inspiration to us all, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.
