A new video from LIV Golf’s social media is turning heads—though maybe not for the reasons its players hoped. In the video, seven LIV golfers, including Patrick Reed, Kevin Na, and Anirban Lahiri, revealed their “fake Uber jobs” in a lighthearted segment. Kevin Na kicked things off, saying he’d tell drivers he’s an “entrepreneur” dabbling in real estate. Anirban Lahiri took the humorous route, calling himself a “nuclear physicist,” while Carlos Ortiz feigned a language barrier with a cheeky “No English.” Patrick Reed, however, played it straight, admitting he usually tells the truth: “I play golf,” which often sparks a conversation.
Despite the intended humor, fan reactions on social media quickly turned critical. Given Reed’s infamous 2019 Hero World Challenge incident, where he received a two-stroke penalty for improving his lie in a bunker, one fan quipped, “Ironic Reed saying he would be truthful,” while another added, “No one knows who Patrick Reed is unless there’s something shady going on.” Others targeted the LIV Golf league itself, with one user remarking, “Nobody knows who any of these guys are,” pointing to LIV’s lack of mainstream recognition.
While the playful video may not have landed quite as LIV intended, it did stir conversation around the players and the tour. And as Patrick Reed embraces honesty with his Uber drivers, fans can’t help but ask: is it a sign of change, or just another layer in his complex legacy?
