In a significant development for the LIV Golf League, former PGA Tour professional Hudson Swafford has reportedly had his contract terminated and will not be returning for the upcoming season. According to a report from FlushingIt, Swafford’s time with the Saudi-backed league has officially come to a close.
Swafford, who turned pro in 2011, joined LIV Golf during its inaugural season in 2022, becoming a part of Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers team. He participated in all eight tournaments during LIV’s beta-test season but faced setbacks due to a hip injury that sidelined him until May 2023.
Despite his return, Swafford struggled to find form throughout the 2023 season, primarily playing as a reserve and holding a wildcard position in the 2024 campaign. Over the course of 13 LIV events this year, his performance was lackluster, with his best finish being a tie for 36th place at the season-opening event in Mayakoba. His poor results placed him in the relegation zone, but he managed to avoid demotion due to his wildcard status.
This news marks a challenging turn for Swafford, who had hoped to make a significant impact in LIV Golf after transitioning from the PGA Tour. As the league continues to evolve, the departure of players like Swafford underscores the competitive nature and high stakes within the LIV Golf landscape.
