Von Miller praises Zach Allen as Broncos’ secret weapon

Washington Commanders linebacker Von Miller has long been regarded as a master at pressuring quarterbacks. Since his trade in 2021, Miller has maintained a keen interest in the Denver Broncos, the franchise where he made his name over a decade of dynamic play. As the Broncos continue to evolve, Miller is enthusiastic about how the legacy of pass-rushing excellence is being carried forward.

A New Era of Pass Rushers

In recent seasons, Denver’s pass-rushing brigade has made headlines by breaking the franchise record for sacks, showcasing a depth of talent that rivals Miller’s championship-winning years with the team. While players like Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper have garnered significant attention for their performances, Miller has identified a less heralded yet equally impactful player: Zach Allen.

“Zach Allen might be one of my favorite rushers in the league,” Miller remarked during an interview, highlighting Allen’s unique skill set. “He’s doing things that are hard to do.” This endorsement comes on the heels of Allen earning his first Pro Bowl selection, adding to his accolades after being named a second-team All-Pro the previous season.

Impact Beyond the Numbers

While Allen’s 6.5 sacks may represent a smaller portion of the Broncos’ impressive total of 64 sacks, his contributions transcend raw statistics. The defensive lineman has faced double-teams a staggering 55.5% of the time, a tactic that has allowed his teammates to flourish. Despite this challenging role, Allen leads the league with 45 quarterback hits, underscoring his relentless pursuit of the passer.

Miller recognizes Allen’s critical role in the Broncos’ defensive strategy, describing him as the team’s “supreme closer.”

A Well-Oiled Defensive Machine

“The Broncos do that with those guys on the outside with unbelievable first steps, the get-offs,” Miller noted. “But then after they fold the pocket off the edge, they don’t let the QBs out. Zach Allen, he closes the door.” This synergy among the defensive unit highlights the strategic planning behind the Broncos’ success on the field.

As the Broncos gear up for a playoff push, the spotlight remains on how this talented roster, bolstered by Allen’s contributions, will perform as the season progresses. With Miller’s endorsement, it’s clear that Zach Allen is a key player to watch in the coming weeks.
