Vikings healthier than Packers as injury woes hit Green Bay before crucial showdown

Vikings Healthier Ahead of Showdown with Packers

The Minnesota Vikings enter their Week 12 matchup against the Green Bay Packers with a more favorable injury report, despite having two players listed as did not participate (DNP) during Wednesday’s walkthrough. As the teams gear up for their clash at Lambeau Field, the Packers are facing more significant injury concerns, particularly among their offensive ranks.

Vikings Injury Status

The Vikings were without outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard and right guard Will Fries during their initial practice session of the week. Greenard continues to struggle with a shoulder injury that sidelined him in their previous game against the Chicago Bears. However, he has been engaging in side-field work, offering a glimmer of hope that he could be available for the pivotal contest against the Packers.

If Greenard remains unable to play, Dallas Turner is expected to step into a full-time role once again. On the other hand, Fries is a new addition to the injury report with a knee issue. Notably, he is the only starting offensive lineman for the Vikings who has not missed any game action this season. His potential absence raises questions about the Vikings’ offensive line, especially with center Ryan Kelly nearing a return from injured reserve.

Should Kelly make it back, but Fries is unable to suit up, Blake Brandel is likely to shift from center to right guard. If both Greenard and Fries are unavailable, the Vikings may turn to Joe Huber or Michael Jurgens to fill the gaps along the line.

The good news for Minnesota is that the rest of their 53-man roster, along with Kelly, was estimated to have fully participated in the walkthrough, suggesting a healthier team overall as they prepare for a crucial division battle.

Packers Facing Key Injuries

In stark contrast, the Packers are grappling with injuries to key offensive players. While specific details about their DNPs have yet to be disclosed, it is clear that the health of their roster could play a significant role in the outcome of this matchup. The absence of top offensive weapons could hinder Green Bay’s ability to compete effectively against their division rivals.

As the Vikings look to capitalize on the Packers’ injury woes, the implications of this game extend beyond just the standings. It’s a critical moment for both teams as they navigate the challenges of a grueling NFL season. With health on their side, the Vikings aim to leverage their advantages as they strive for a victory in one of the league’s most storied rivalries.
