Vikings Fans Hold Optimism as Darrisaw’s Recovery Shows Progress

The Minnesota Vikings will once again be without their starting left tackle, Christian Darrisaw, as they face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. Darrisaw, who is on the road to recovery from a torn ACL and MCL sustained in 2024, seemed poised to make his return in Week 1. He participated in two full practices towards the end of last week, only to be declared inactive after being labeled as questionable for the game.

As the Vikings prepare for their matchup against the Falcons, Darrisaw’s status remains a point of concern. After starting the week with a full practice, he was limited in the subsequent sessions, leading to his ruling out on Saturday.

Darrisaw’s Injury Update

Initially, there were fears that Darrisaw might have experienced a setback in his recovery after he was so close to playing in the previous game. However, head coach Kevin O’Connell has quelled those concerns, confirming that there was no regression in Darrisaw’s condition.

“There was a thought of wanting to just make sure that we completed the weekly process, specifically knowing that we had the extra day,” O’Connell explained. “Allowing Christian to go feel the atmosphere and start getting his mind in that place was a total positive from that standpoint.”

O’Connell emphasized that Darrisaw continues to make significant strides in his recovery. “With the injury he had, he’s still so far ahead of schedule,” he added. “It’s a great place on the daily, and we just want to continue that. As I’ve told Christian and our medical staff many, many times, first and foremost, the number one priority will always be what’s in the best interest of the player—not only in the present but more importantly in the long term.”

Given this encouraging update, it seems that Darrisaw is on the verge of making his return. The Vikings and their fans remain hopeful that the talented tackle will soon rejoin the lineup, bolstering the offensive front as the season progresses.
