Tyler Steen reacts after NFC East brawl, fined but avoids suspension

Tyler Steen found himself at the center of controversy following a heated clash during the NFC East match between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. The incident occurred in the final moments of the Eagles’ decisive 29-18 victory last Saturday at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

Postgame Emotions

After the game, Steen, the Eagles’ right guard, was still reeling from the altercation that unfolded on the field. As he left the field, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was there to greet him, a familiar sight for players after games, regardless of the outcome. “It was cool,” Steen reflected on the encounter with Roseman. “I was really upset. I was pretty mad. So, a lot of the things that people were trying to tell me, I wasn’t understanding what was going on. I was just trying to collect my thoughts.”

The source of Steen’s frustration stemmed from the physical confrontation that erupted during the game. Tensions flared when Washington’s players reacted negatively to the Eagles executing a two-point conversion by handing the ball off to Saquon Barkley. The ensuing chaos included a flurry of pushing, shoving, and punches, resulting in Steen’s ejection from the game.

Consequences of the Brawl

The aftermath of the brawl saw not only Steen ejected but also Washington players Javon Kinlaw and Quan Martin receiving the same fate. As the dust settled, four players from the Commanders were fined for their roles in the incident. Steen was the only player from the Eagles to face disciplinary action, receiving a fine of $16,870.

Fortunately for Steen, he managed to avoid suspension, a concern that weighed on him in the days following the game. Reflecting on the situation, he admitted, “I was concerned, a little nervous about it, but thankfully, I didn’t get suspended. I’m happy about that and looking forward to playing on Sunday against the Bills. It was a crazy situation.”

With the Eagles looking to maintain their momentum, Steen’s focus now shifts to preparing for their upcoming matchup, eager to put the chaos behind him and contribute to the team’s success.
