Tony Pollard Powers Titans Offense with Third Consecutive 100-Yard Game

Tennessee Titans running back Tony Pollard is riding high following a decisive 26-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16. Pollard showcased his skills by rushing 21 times for 102 yards, marking his third consecutive game eclipsing the century mark. Now, he stands a mere 51 yards away from surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the fourth straight season, a milestone that underscores his consistency and resilience in the league.

Building Momentum for the Titans

After the game, Pollard reflected on his recent success and its impact on the team’s performance as they approach the season’s conclusion. “It’s very rewarding. It’s something that we’ve been working on all year, trying to get the run game going. Now, toward the back end of the season, we’re starting to get that momentum going and build our identity around it,” he shared. Pollard’s ability to find openings and gain yards has been pivotal for the Titans, contributing to their 2-1 record over the past three games. His effectiveness on the ground has proven crucial for the offense’s overall success.

Finding Identity in the Offense

Pollard emphasized the importance of establishing an offensive identity that capitalizes on their strengths. “That’s just us finding our identity in this offense. Figuring out what we do best, and what gets us going, what allows us to put points on the board, and that’s what we’re doing right now,” he explained. His insights reveal a focused approach as the Titans strive to solidify their offensive strategy in the latter part of the season.

Quarterback Insights on Pollard’s Impact

Quarterback Cam Ward, who benefits greatly from Pollard’s performances, echoed his sentiments regarding the running back’s role. “It was made very easy. Tony (Pollard), he’s one of the most unselfish people out there,” Ward remarked. He acknowledged that Pollard’s contributions have been instrumental in the team’s upward trajectory, saying, “For him to continue to let his presence be felt, when things are good or bad, is why we’re starting to trend upwards.” Ward also credited the offensive line for their consistent support in the run game, highlighting the need for continued complementary football to assist the defense and maintain offensive balance.

The Road Ahead for the Titans

The Titans find themselves in a challenging position, as they are one of only six teams this season yet to average 100 rushing yards per game. Collectively, these teams have a dismal record of 24-66, with none poised for playoff contention. Pollard’s late-season surge provides a glimmer of hope for the Titans as they look to build a stronger foundation for the future.

As the Titans aim to capitalize on this momentum heading into the offseason, they remain focused on improving their rushing attack, with the hope that it will lead to greater success in 2026.
