Titans seek improvement ahead of clash with Rams’ formidable defense

The Tennessee Titans are gearing up for a critical Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, determined to elevate their performance following a lackluster season opener against the Denver Broncos. Despite scoring four times, the Titans managed only 12 points, falling short as the Broncos secured a 20-12 victory, marking the Titans’ first loss of the season.

Offensive Expectations Set High

Calvin Ridley, the Titans’ standout wide receiver, expressed disappointment with his personal performance in the opener. “I was frustrated, of course,” Ridley shared, reflecting on the game. “I practiced good, had a good camp. I expected to play good. … It was a bad game.” His words resonate with the urgency felt throughout the locker room as the team seeks to bounce back.

Ridley understands the importance of his role in building confidence for rookie quarterback Cam Ward. “We have to be really good for Cam,” he emphasized. “He’s a really good player, and we have to be really good. We just have to make the plays for my boy. I was ready to play that day. I didn’t expect to do that at all. We hold ourselves to a high standard, and you just have to make the play.”

Addressing Offensive Line Concerns

Left tackle Dan Moore Jr. also recognized the need for improvement, particularly in protecting Ward, who was sacked six times against the Broncos, resulting in a significant loss of 50 yards. “I thought myself, I didn’t play up to my standard,” Moore admitted. “I didn’t play up to the team’s standards. I just have to respond next week. As far as an offensive line, as a unit, we have a lot of things we have to clean up.”

With the Rams’ defensive unit headed to Nashville, the Titans’ offense must sharpen its execution. Ridley acknowledged the challenge ahead: “It’s a good defense – it’s the NFL. I am coming to make plays, though.”

Preparing for a Tough Challenge

The Titans are aware that improving on their Week 1 performance is crucial if they hope to compete effectively against the Rams. The stakes are high as they look to turn the page and establish a rhythm in their offense, with the pressure mounting for the players to deliver in front of their home crowd.

As the Titans prepare to face a formidable opponent, the focus is clear: elevate their game, build confidence, and create an offensive identity that can stand up to the rigors of the NFL.
