Tennessee Titans make surprising decision to cut Pro Bowl safety Quandre Diggs
The Tennessee Titans have made a significant roster move, parting ways with veteran safety Quandre Diggs, a player known for his accolades and experience. This decision marks a notable shift for a team that has relied on Diggs’ skills in their secondary.
Titans’ Roster Shake-Up
In a statement from team reporter Jim Wyatt, it was confirmed that the Titans are letting go of Diggs, a three-time Pro Bowl defensive back. The announcement came just two days after the Titans added safety Jerrick Reed II from the Seahawks via waivers.
“The Titans have parted ways with veteran safety Quandre Diggs,” Wyatt reported. He also noted the presence of other safeties on the active roster, including Amani Hooker, Xavier Woods, Kevin Winston Jr., and Kendall Brooks. Diggs had participated in all nine games this season, starting in four of them.
Diggs Reflects on His Time in Tennessee
At 32 years old, Diggs returned to the Titans this year for his second stint after spending five successful seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he earned three Pro Bowl selections. He signed a one-year deal with Tennessee, motivated to continue his career, especially after his cousin, Cam Ward, was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
As he prepared for the draft, Diggs expressed fond memories of their close-knit family, stating, “He was bad as heck as a kid, so a lot of good times. I used to push him around and stuff like that. But he used to come to a lot of my games and stuff like that.” Their bond was strengthened by their shared upbringing in a church household, where family ties ran deep.
As Diggs departs from the Titans, the team will look to implement changes that may better align with their current strategy and roster needs. This move signals a pivotal moment for both the player and the franchise, as they each turn the page toward new chapters in their respective journeys.
