Tee Higgins shocks NFL with historic back-to-back season, Bengals celebrate superstar’s $115M contract extension

Tee Higgins Achieves Historic Milestone in Bengals History

CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins has etched his name into the franchise history books by becoming only the third player to record back-to-back seasons with 10 or more receiving touchdowns. A remarkable feat, Higgins joins the ranks of A.J. Green (2012-13) and Carl Pickens (1994-96), while notable names like Ja’Marr Chase, Chad Johnson, and Isaac Curtis have yet to achieve this milestone.

A Dynamic Performance Against the Dolphins

In a standout performance against the Miami Dolphins, Higgins showcased his talent with several pivotal catches. His contributions included a touchdown and a 35-yard reception that helped the Bengals establish early momentum in their 45-21 victory. Quarterback Joe Burrow highlighted Higgins’s impact on the game, stating, “Tee (Higgins) set it off, set the tone for the day. Those two big plays early kind of set the tone for, number one, how the day was going and, number two, how they were going to play us. I think they had a plan, and then those two plays happened, and they had to change their plan. That’s why Tee is who he is and why we value him so much; he just makes plays like that.”

What Makes Higgins Stand Out?

Burrow elaborated on what sets Higgins apart from other wide receivers in the league: “He’s big, long, strong, physical. The first year he wasn’t making a ton of those plays, and then we come back in 2021, and he’s made most of them since. That’s a credit to how serious he takes it and how much he works and likes to improve.” Higgins’s commitment to his craft has clearly paid off, as he continues to deliver in critical moments.

A Smart Investment for the Future

In March, the Bengals made a significant investment in Higgins by signing him to a four-year, $115 million contract extension. While this season may not have unfolded as the team had initially anticipated, the decision to extend Higgins’s contract has proven prescient. His 10 touchdown receptions currently rank him third in the NFL, trailing only Davante Adams (14) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (11).

As Higgins continues to make waves in the league, Bengals fans can look forward to more electrifying performances from their superstar wide receiver.
