Steelers’ Warren expected to tackle Vikings in Dublin despite knee concerns and questionable status

Warren’s Status Clouds Steelers’ Dublin Showdown Against Vikings

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren finds himself in a state of uncertainty as the team heads into Week 4. Listed as questionable on the final injury report due to a knee issue, Warren’s participation in the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings remains up in the air.

For the first time this season, Warren appeared on the Steelers’ injury report, having been limited in practice throughout the week. His knee concerns have raised eyebrows, especially with the historic matchup set to take place in Dublin, Ireland.

Updates on Warren’s Condition

As anticipation builds for the game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided a promising update on Warren’s status. According to Schefter, the Steelers’ running back is expected to suit up for the game against the Vikings. He reported, “Steelers RB Jaylen Warren, who was added to the injury report on Friday with a knee injury, is expected to play Sunday in Dublin vs. the Vikings, per league source.”

However, the elevation of fellow running back Trey Sermon from the practice squad adds a layer of complexity to the situation. While this move might suggest a deeper concern for Warren, it primarily serves as a tactical adjustment. The Steelers needed a replacement for kick return duties after rookie Kaleb Johnson’s struggles in Week 2. Sermon, who was utilized in this role alongside Kenneth Gainwell in Week 3, will step in to fill that void.

Warren’s Recent Performance

Despite the injury concerns, Warren’s performance has captured attention over the past few weeks. After a quiet opening game, he steadily increased his involvement, tallying 13 touches in Week 1, which rose to 18 in Week 2, and peaked at 23 in Week 3. Given his heavy workload, the Steelers may opt to scale back his touches to manage his health effectively. However, should he remain fit, Warren is expected to lead the running back rotation moving forward.

As the Steelers prepare for this unique contest overseas, the focus will undoubtedly be on Warren’s health and his ability to contribute against a formidable Vikings defense. With the game just around the corner, all eyes will be on Dublin as fans eagerly await the kickoff.
