Steelers face uncertainty as Zach Frazier’s triceps injury looms ahead of Week 16 clash with Lions

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been navigating a minefield of injuries this season, and as the final stretch of games approaches, the team’s struggles show no signs of easing. With a crucial Week 16 matchup against the formidable Detroit Lions on the horizon, the absence of one of their key offensive linemen has raised significant concerns.

Frazier’s Practice Absence

Center Zach Frazier, a pivotal figure on the Steelers’ offensive line, was notably absent from a recent practice session, designated as “did not participate” on the injury report. The second-year player is grappling with a triceps injury, which has sidelined him and put his availability for the upcoming game in jeopardy.

Frazier wasn’t the only one missing during practice. The injury list also included notable defensive stalwarts such as T.J. Watt, Nick Herbig, Cam Heyward, and Keeanu Benton, leaving the team to adapt on the fly. In Frazier’s absence, backup center Ryan McCollum stepped in to take first-team reps, a clear indication of the team’s need to prepare for all possibilities.

Will Frazier Be Ready?

The pressing question now is whether Frazier will be fit to play against the Lions. The triceps injury is recent, as he had been a full participant in practice just the day before. However, the severity of the injury remains unclear, making it difficult to predict his status.

Frazier’s participation in the final practice session before the game will be critical in determining his readiness. Despite the uncertainty, he has expressed confidence about his potential to suit up against Detroit. Conversations with media members revealed that Frazier believes he could take the field come game day. This optimism is encouraging for the Steelers, yet it does not assure that he will be in uniform when the teams clash.

As the Steelers brace for this pivotal contest, all eyes will be on Frazier and his recovery, with the hope that he can contribute to a successful outing against a tough Lions squad.
