Steelers brace for impact as Ramsey and Austin sidelined by injuries, leaving gaps in the lineup

Steelers face injury setbacks with Ramsey and Austin expected to miss multiple games

The Pittsburgh Steelers are bracing for a tough stretch as injuries to cornerback Jalen Ramsey and wide receiver Calvin Austin could sideline them for “at least several games.” This update comes from a report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, who provided the news early Monday morning.

Injury Details

Both players exited the Week 4 victory against the Minnesota Vikings prematurely, with Ramsey dealing with a hamstring injury and Austin suffering a shoulder injury. Ramsey had attempted a comeback during the game, even engaging in a fake hamstring injury touchdown celebration before ultimately leaving the field with the real injury. Meanwhile, Austin’s situation escalated to a point where he required a hospital visit following his shoulder injury. However, he later reassured fans via social media, stating, “Great Dub in Dublin! I’m all good, Steelers Nation, appreciate the messages and concern.”

Impact on the Team

The potential extended absence of both players poses a significant challenge for Pittsburgh. The Steelers are already thin at wide receiver, with Austin serving as the No. 2 option in the lineup. Ramsey, on the other hand, has been a standout performer in the secondary this season, making his loss even more impactful. Dulac’s mention of the upcoming bye week in Week 5 offers a slight reprieve, as it reduces the number of games they will miss by one.

As the Steelers navigate this challenging period, the absence of both Ramsey and Austin could test the team’s depth and resilience. The franchise can ill-afford to lose key players at such crucial positions as they look to maintain momentum in the season.
