Steelers strengthen receiving unit with Isaiah Hodgins signing

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making a strategic move to enhance their wide receiver depth by reportedly signing Isaiah Hodgins, a former player with the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants. This addition, confirmed by NFL insider Jordan Schultz, aims to bolster the team’s offensive arsenal as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Contract details remain unclear

While specifics regarding the contract’s length and financial terms have not yet been disclosed, it remains uncertain whether Hodgins will join the active roster or the practice squad. His journey through the NFL has seen ups and downs, making this opportunity particularly poignant.

A brief history in the NFL

Hodgins was selected as a sixth-round pick by the Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, his time in Buffalo was limited, as he appeared in just three games over two seasons. After being released by the Bills, he found a new home with the Giants in 2022, where he managed to make a more significant impact.

In his first season with New York, Hodgins recorded 351 receiving yards, showcasing his potential as a reliable target. The following year, he added another 230 yards, although his contributions were hampered when he played in only two games for the Giants while on the practice squad.

Looking ahead

As the Steelers gear up for their preseason activities, Hodgins’ signing could provide the team with much-needed experience and depth in their receiving corps. With the landscape of the NFL continually evolving, Hodgins’ adaptability and skills may prove valuable as the Steelers look to solidify their offensive strategy in the months to come.
