After the game, Shrader reflected on the joy of contributing to such a significant win. “That’s a blessing right there,” he expressed. “To see the guys that joyful after a team win like that is truly a special experience, and to know that I played my part in creating that environment is something that makes you feel really special.”
Conservative Strategy Leads to Late Drama
As the clock wound down, the Broncos’ missed a 42-yard field goal with the score at 28-26, giving the Colts a chance to seize victory with 3:15 remaining. “Reset your mentality,” Shrader recalled. “You know you’re getting another opportunity. Whatever happened in the past, you just got to flush it.”
This time, Shrader was faced with a more manageable 45-yard attempt. Despite the chaotic circumstances surrounding the first kick, Steichen maintained unwavering confidence in his kicker’s abilities. “I think he has a calmness about him,” Steichen remarked. “He’s just a happy-go-lucky guy.”

With the snap from Luke Rhodes and hold from Rigoberto Sanchez perfectly executed, Shrader took his shot once more. The ball soared through the air, splitting the uprights and sealing the Colts’ thrilling victory.
