Raiders face uphill battle as Kolton Miller’s high-ankle sprain sidelines him for potentially six weeks

Raiders Lose Kolton Miller to High-Ankle Sprain

The Las Vegas Raiders are bracing for a challenging stretch as left tackle Kolton Miller has been sidelined with a high-ankle sprain sustained during the Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears. In the closing moments of the game, Miller’s injury cast a pall over an already disappointing outing. The pain was evident as he was carted off the field, prompting immediate concerns about the severity of the injury.

Injury Update

While initial fears suggested a more severe issue, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided some relief with his report that Miller’s injury is not season-ending. However, the prognosis still isn’t encouraging. The diagnosis of a high-ankle sprain means Miller could be out for several weeks. Rapoport noted, “OT Kolton Miller, who limped off on the team’s final drive, is believed to have suffered a high-ankle sprain… He’s having an MRI, but that is potentially a multi-week injury.”

Recovery Timeline

High-ankle sprains can be tricky, with recovery times varying significantly based on severity. Typically, players could be out anywhere from three to six weeks. While some may return sooner, those instances usually represent the best-case scenario. For the Raiders, the absence of Miller—arguably their most reliable offensive lineman—could spell disaster, particularly given the struggles of their offensive line.

Impact on the Team

Miller’s injury adds to the mounting challenges facing the Raiders’ offensive front. The team has already been grappling with inconsistencies on the line, and losing their anchor will only exacerbate the situation. With crucial games ahead, the Raiders will need to rally and find a way to compensate for Miller’s absence if they hope to keep their season on track.
