Raheem Morris Declares Bijan Robinson the NFL’s Best Player
Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris isn’t shy about his admiration for running back Bijan Robinson. In a bold statement made on Wednesday, he declared Robinson the best player in the NFL. With the young star’s remarkable performances over the past two weeks, many are starting to believe that Morris may be onto something.
Robinson, in his second season, has been nothing short of spectacular. During a recent matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, he racked up 143 rushing yards on just 22 carries. This impressive feat marked his 20th game since entering the league in 2023 in which he surpassed the 100-yard rushing milestone. To put this in perspective, that’s more than the likes of reigning Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, and Jahmyr Gibbs—making him the league leader in this category.
Praise from Peers
Barkley himself offered high praise for Robinson earlier this summer, stating, “There’s nobody who’s able to cut like Bijan in the NFL. You can go argue your mom about that, I’ll be honest. Trust me. I love myself and I think I have great cuts. There’s nobody with his vision, his agility, and he can catch the ball, too. It’s finna get scary for a lot of people as he continues to figure it out.”
Morris echoed these sentiments wholeheartedly, highlighting Robinson’s remarkable attributes. “Unbelievable vision, unbelievable teammate, speed, physicality,” he noted. “When you first meet him, you think he’s a scat back, but he’s really just everything. He has the ability to get out of the backfield, run receiver-like routes, and block whichever linebacker you decide to bring. He just does it all. And we might line him up at quarterback this week, who knows?”
A Rising Star
Robinson’s performance hasn’t just been about individual accolades; it has been instrumental in the Falcons’ success as a team. Following his 100-yard receiving game in Week 1, he now boasts a total of 292 scrimmage yards—ranking second in the NFL, just behind Jonathan Taylor.
Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson expressed the comfort that comes with having a player of Robinson’s caliber in the backfield. “It’s the most comforting feeling in the world,” he remarked, underscoring the trust in Robinson’s ability to deliver in crucial moments.
Morris also recognized the vital role of their rushing game in their recent victory. “When you run for 218 yards, I don’t think we just depended on defense,” he said, reflecting on the game against Minnesota. “That was a part of playing 47 snaps of defense, that was a part of ball control, that was a part of watching Bijan be the best player in football.”
At this point, it’s clear that Morris’s confidence in Robinson is well-placed. With each game, Bijan Robinson is not just solidifying his status as a key player for the Falcons; he is making a strong case for being the best in the entire league.
