Quinshon Judkins ascends to the top of Browns’ RB depth chart ahead of clash with Packers
Quinshon Judkins has quickly made a name for himself within the Cleveland Browns’ running back hierarchy. Just three days after his NFL debut, the second-round rookie from Ohio State has risen to the No. 1 spot on the Browns’ running back depth chart. While head coach Kevin Stefanski cautioned that this elevation is unofficial, it’s evident that Judkins’ performance has warranted this recognition.
Judkins’ Impressive Debut
Initially projected to see between 10 to 15 snaps during his inaugural game against the Baltimore Ravens, Judkins exceeded expectations by taking the field for 20 plays. He showcased his potential with 10 carries for 61 yards, along with three receptions for an additional 10 yards. Notably, a significant portion of his yardage was accrued after first contact, underscoring his ability to break tackles and gain valuable yardage in tough situations.
As it stands, Dylan Sampson occupies the No. 2 position on the depth chart, followed closely by Jerome Ford and Raheim “Rocket” Sanders, who are both listed as RB3. This arrangement reflects the shifting dynamics within the Browns’ backfield as Judkins establishes himself as a key player.
Tough Challenge Ahead
The Browns face a formidable opponent in Week 3 as they prepare to host the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have emerged as one of the best defensive units in the league this season, bolstered by their recent acquisition of Micah Parsons. This matchup poses a significant challenge for Judkins, who will likely be relied upon heavily against such a tough defense.
Cleveland, still searching for its first win of the season, currently holds a record of 0-2, suffering a narrow one-point defeat followed by a more substantial 24-point loss. Joe Flacco remains the starting quarterback, a decision Stefanski has refrained from altering, likely due to the strength of the upcoming opponent.
Despite the Browns’ early struggles, Judkins appears poised to take on a larger workload as he continues to adapt and thrive in the NFL. The stakes are high, and the young running back is ready to prove himself against one of the league’s top defenses.
