Judkins Emerges as Browns’ Starting RB Against Packers After Promising NFL Debut
The much-anticipated Quinshon Judkins era has officially begun. The Cleveland Browns rookie made his NFL debut last week, albeit in a challenging 41-17 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens. Despite missing all of training camp and the preseason due to a legal issue, Judkins showcased his potential, rushing for 61 yards on ten carries and adding three receptions for another ten yards.
Starting Role Secured Against the Packers
Just a week after that noteworthy performance, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Judkins is set to start against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. Rapoport emphasized that the Ohio State product is “ready for more of a workload,” following his impressive debut.
Judkins, selected as a second-round pick in April’s draft, averaged over six yards per carry in his first outing, solidifying his position at the top of the Browns’ depth chart. This move toward a starting role was always in the cards for Judkins, and his debut only reinforced the Browns’ confidence in him.
Fantasy Football Implications
For fantasy football enthusiasts, Judkins has transitioned into a starting option for Week 3, primarily due to expected volume. If the Browns entrusted him with 13 touches in his initial game, it stands to reason that he’ll see 15 or more carries against the Packers. However, this matchup poses challenges; the Packers are currently allowing the fewest fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Despite this, Judkins remains a viable flex option.
As for the Browns’ backfield, the other running backs, Dylan Sampson and Jerome Ford, do not present compelling lineup choices for Week 3. While Sampson may be a safer bet as a handcuff for Judkins, neither player is likely to impact the starting lineup this week.
Looking Ahead
With Judkins now taking center stage, all eyes will be on his performance against Green Bay. The Browns are counting on their rookie to not only step up but to also establish himself as a key player in their offensive scheme moving forward. The stage is set for Judkins to make his mark.
