Watt’s Recovery and NFL Discipline
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt is facing a challenging period both on and off the field. Following a recent lung surgery due to a partially collapsed lung sustained during a dry needling session at the team’s facility, Watt is set to miss valuable playing time. This unexpected health setback comes at a critical juncture in the season for the Steelers.
Late Hit Penalty
Adding to his troubles, Watt has received an $11,593 fine from the NFL for a late hit during Week 14’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The incident occurred with just 2:12 remaining in the game when Watt dove onto a pile of players in an attempt to tackle Ravens running back Derrick Henry. Despite Henry still being upright at the time, the league considered Watt’s actions to be excessive and issued the fine ahead of the Steelers’ upcoming Week 15 game against the Miami Dolphins.
As the Steelers prepare for their next contest, Watt’s absence will undoubtedly be felt. His leadership and skills on the field are integral to the team’s defensive strategy. With the stakes higher than ever, the Steelers will have to adapt in his absence while Watt focuses on his recovery.
