Mike Hilton Signs with Colts, Reuniting with Former Bengals Coordinator Anarumo

Mike Hilton, the former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback, has secured a new NFL home with the Indianapolis Colts. This move comes after a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins during the offseason, and it marks a significant reunion for Hilton as he joins forces with Lou Anarumo, his former defensive coordinator from his time in Cincinnati.

A New Chapter in Indianapolis

Hilton’s arrival in Indianapolis is timely, as the Colts have unexpectedly surged to a 3-0 record this season, positioning them as one of the league’s most notable surprises. After a workout with the team earlier in the offseason, Hilton’s signing adds depth and experience to an already promising roster.

Hilton’s Impact in Cincinnati

During his tenure with the Bengals, Hilton became a fan favorite and a crucial component of the team’s defense. He joined Cincinnati in 2021 after making a name for himself with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over the past few seasons, he emerged as one of the NFL’s top nickel cornerbacks, amassing six interceptions and recording 283 tackles.

At 30 years old, Hilton continued to showcase his skills last season, earning a 75.8 Pro Football Focus grade—second-best on the Bengals’ defense—while achieving a career-high 91.7 run defense grade. His contributions were pivotal in helping the Bengals reach back-to-back AFC Championship Games and their appearance in Super Bowl LVI.

Looking Ahead

As Hilton embarks on this new journey, Cincinnati fans will not see him on the field unless the Colts and Bengals meet in the playoffs this season. After having worked out for several teams over the past month, it’s reassuring for both Hilton and his supporters to see him back on an NFL roster.

His transition to the Colts not only signifies a fresh start but also a chance to contribute to a team that is defying expectations. The combination of Hilton’s proven track record and Anarumo’s defensive acumen could create a formidable partnership in Indianapolis as the season progresses.
