Micah Parsons Criticizes Cowboys for Handling Trevon Diggs’ Injury Recovery
Micah Parsons is stepping up to defend his friend and former teammate, Trevon Diggs, who was recently placed on injured reserve by the Dallas Cowboys due to ongoing knee issues. This development follows a confusing series of events surrounding Diggs’ recovery, prompting Parsons to voice his frustration over how the organization has managed the situation.
Parsons’ Outspoken Defense of Diggs
The Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end has made headlines since joining the Green Bay Packers, but his loyalty to Diggs remains unwavering. Parsons, expressing his concerns, recently told Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports that he believes the team’s approach to Diggs’ rehabilitation has been detrimental. He bluntly stated that the Cowboys have “f***ed” Diggs over, highlighting his dissatisfaction with their treatment of the star cornerback.
“Honestly, I feel like they f***ed my dog over, you know what I mean?” Parsons said after the Cowboys’ Week 8 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. “He’s coming off a catastrophic knee injury, and I just didn’t think they did right by him. He didn’t participate all camp, and he’s going out there playing Week 1 and 2. I just don’t think you do that to a player like that.”
Concerns Over Rushed Return
Parsons further elaborated that he believes the Cowboys pressured Diggs back onto the field too soon, particularly in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Instead of easing back into action after a significant injury, Diggs was thrust into a competitive environment without adequate preparation.
“The type of knee injury he had, they forced him out there,” Parsons explained. “He has no reps really. He’s telling me he was in warmup phase during Week 1. Even with the ramp-up, I just feel like you just don’t do that.”
Diggs’ Struggles This Season
Despite the expectations surrounding him, Diggs has struggled to replicate the performance that saw him lead the league in interceptions in 2021. Through six games this season, he has tallied only 18 total tackles without any pass breakups or interceptions, a stark contrast to his previous success.
As the Cowboys navigate this challenging period, it’s evident where Parsons’ loyalties lie. His commitment to defending his friend and advocating for his well-being underscores the tight-knit bonds within the team, even as Diggs faces the reality of an uphill battle in his recovery.
As the season progresses, the future of Diggs and his relationship with the Cowboys remains uncertain. However, Parsons’ vocal support indicates that he will continue to stand by his friend, regardless of the circumstances.
