Miami Dolphins make roster adjustments, place Jordan Colbert on injured reserve
The Miami Dolphins have made headlines this week with a significant roster move, placing safety/linebacker Jordan Colbert on injured reserve. This decision comes in the wake of their recent victory over the Washington Commanders, where Colbert left the game with injuries.
Colbert’s Injury Details
Colbert’s exit from the tight 16-13 overtime win was marked by concern as he underwent evaluation for a potential concussion. Although he was cleared, he also sustained a stinger during a second-quarter special teams play. As it stands, Colbert remains classified as a safety on the roster. However, since returning from the practice squad, he has been utilized in a linebacker role during practice sessions. Notably, all 62 snaps he played this season have come exclusively on special teams.
Other Roster Moves
Earlier this week, the Dolphins also placed cornerback JuJu Brents on injured reserve, subsequently filling his spot on the 53-man roster with cornerback A.J. Green, whom they signed from the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad. This maneuver reflects the team’s ongoing effort to adapt and reinforce their lineup amid injury challenges.
Potential Roster Additions
Looking ahead, the Dolphins may continue to explore options for their roster. With recent openings filled by players from other teams’ practice squads—such as the addition of Andre Carter II following the trade of Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles—the team is likely to pursue a similar strategy.
Additionally, the Dolphins have several players eligible to return from injured reserve, including tackle Austin Jackson, who was designated to return last week after resuming practice. Other notable players in this category include tight end Darren Waller, guard James Daniels, guard/center Andrew Meyer, and kicker Jason Sanders.
As the Dolphins navigate this roster shake-up, the focus will be on maintaining momentum as they prepare for their upcoming games, all while managing the health and readiness of their players.
