Marvin Mims shines with electrifying punt return, earns AFC honors in Broncos triumph
Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims has been recognized as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week following his standout performance in the team’s 24-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, as announced by the NFL on Wednesday. This marks the third time in his career that Mims has received this honor, underscoring his impact on the field.
Mims electrified fans with a remarkable 48-yard punt return that resulted in a touchdown against the Raiders, showcasing his remarkable agility as he maneuvered past multiple defenders. This pivotal score in the second quarter not only energized the crowd but also secured a lead for Denver that they would maintain throughout the match, marking their 10th consecutive win.
Reflecting on Mims’ impressive play, head coach Sean Payton expressed his admiration, stating, “I don’t know what the numbers are, but when you score in special teams, or you score on defense, you’re over 80-percent winner.” He added, “It was amazing, because from my angle, which was pretty right there, to see Mims come out of that pile, that was a big play.”
