Marvin Harrison Jr. set to make a comeback after appendicitis, eyes impact against Buccaneers

It’s been a challenging fortnight for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. As he gears up for his return from appendicitis, the anticipation is palpable. Harrison has participated in practice all week leading up to the pivotal Week 13 clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After being sidelined for the last two games, he is eager to rejoin his teammates.

A Sudden Setback

Reflecting on his unexpected health scare, Harrison shared, “It was a long two weeks, obviously, but feels good to be back out here and try to take it day-by-day with everything.” He recounted the sudden nature of his condition, stating, “Random, very random. Came out of nowhere Monday night; I think I checked in the hospital around 2 AM Tuesday morning.”

Rallying the Offense

Harrison, selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the most recent draft, acknowledged that the recovery process had its share of discomfort. Nevertheless, his potential return is a significant boost for a Cardinals offense that has seen wide receiver Michael Wilson step up in his absence. Wilson has accumulated 25 receptions for 303 yards over the past two games, solidifying his role as the team’s primary receiving threat.

“Obviously, I always knew what Mike was capable of,” Harrison remarked, highlighting Wilson’s emerging talent. He also praised tight end Trey McBride, adding, “Always have full confidence in all our skill guys. We can go out there, make plays, and get opportunities.”

A New Dynamic for Defenses

When asked about the impact of his return on opposing defenses, Harrison confidently stated, “They should be [more aware of Wilson’s presence].” The Cardinals have struggled this season, sitting at 3-8, and have recently shifted to Jacoby Brissett at quarterback. While this change has brought some improvement in their offensive stats, it hasn’t translated to victories on the field.

Despite the team’s struggles, Harrison remains optimistic about the potential of playing alongside talented teammates like Wilson and McBride. “I’ve been playing with great receivers my whole life, so this is nothing new for me,” he said. “I’m excited. I love playing with other guys I know can go out there and make plays.”

Looking Ahead

As Harrison approaches the latter part of his second season in the NFL, he is keenly aware of the opportunity that Week 13 presents to leave a lasting impression. “Go win some games,” he said when discussing his aspirations for the remainder of the season. With his return on the horizon, all eyes will be on Harrison as the Cardinals look to turn their fortunes around against the Buccaneers.
