Andrews Sets Ravens Record Amidst Loss to Bengals
On a night that showcased both triumph and disappointment for the Baltimore Ravens, the team saw their five-game winning streak come to an abrupt halt with a 32-14 defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals. While the scoreboard reflected a tough loss, the Ravens’ offense did manage to carve out a moment of history.
Mark Andrews Achieves Milestone
In a remarkable personal achievement, three-time Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews solidified his place in Ravens lore. Just two weeks after becoming the franchise’s all-time leader in receiving yards during a decisive win over the Cleveland Browns, Andrews completed a historic hat trick by surpassing Derrick Mason for the most receptions in team history.
Entering the game needing only three catches to claim the record, the eighth-year veteran delivered, finishing with four receptions on six targets, amassing 47 receiving yards. His consistency has not gone unnoticed, as he also leads the team with five receiving touchdowns this season, building on his previous record for total touchdowns.
A Historic Performance Amidst Team Struggles
Andrews tied Mason’s receptions record with a 19-yard catch in the third quarter. He then broke it shortly thereafter, catching the first of two consecutive passes in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for the Ravens, this came during a time when they were struggling to regain control of the game, ultimately committing five turnovers that sealed their fate.
Reflecting on the night, Andrews expressed mixed feelings about his achievements. “Right now, I wish we would’ve won this game, but that’s okay,” he said after the game. “We will get back in the lab. I’m very thankful to be in this position and to have that record, but [I have] a lot of people around me to thank for that.”
As the Ravens regroup following this loss, Andrews’ record-setting performance stands as a bright spot in an otherwise challenging night, underscoring his pivotal role in the team’s offense and his ongoing contributions to the franchise’s legacy.
