Kerby Joseph’s cryptic message stirs uncertainty ahead of Dallas showdown

Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph is on the mend, but his status for the upcoming Week 14 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys remains uncertain. As the team prepares for Thursday evening’s game, Joseph’s recent social media post—featuring the phrase “I’m lost for words”—has caught the attention of fans and analysts alike, raising questions about his condition.

Injury Updates from Dan Campbell

Head coach Dan Campbell addressed local media regarding Joseph’s situation, admitting he had not yet seen the safety’s post. However, he provided updates on Joseph and fellow players Graham Glasgow and Brock Wright. Joseph has been sidelined since Week 6 due to a knee injury that has plagued him since training camp.

“I don’t know about the tweet,” Campbell remarked. “He’ll be running around doing some individual stuff like that. You know, he’s doing a little bit more, but I don’t know anything about the tweet.” He emphasized that Joseph is making progress, stating, “He’s closer than he was before. He’s close. We’ll know a lot more really tomorrow.”

Ongoing Knee Issues

Joseph’s knee injury has been a complicated issue, originating from training camp and exacerbated by a bone bruise sustained in Week 4. Despite his efforts to play through the discomfort, the team decided to rest him after their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Campbell elaborated on the challenges Joseph faces, stating, “A lot of it is just trying to get some stability in the leg and get some strength, which in turn will help some of the pain.”

The head coach noted that while the pain may not fully dissipate, the focus remains on managing it. “I don’t think it’s necessarily going away,” Campbell said. “But you do your best to manage it. A lot of these guys that have gotten some injuries can be cartilage or meniscus issues. They’ll always have a little wear and tear. It’s just, you know, how bad is it?”

Assessing Other Injuries

In addition to Joseph, the Lions are monitoring the health of center Graham Glasgow, who appears to be improving. However, tight end Brock Wright’s situation is less clear. Campbell reported that Wright is undergoing scans for a second opinion regarding an issue with his trachea.

“Graham’s doing better,” Campbell said, providing a glimmer of hope for the offensive line. “And then Brock, really nothing new. We’re still sending out scans and just seeing if there are any second opinions that would change the outlook for him playing.”

As the Lions navigate these injury challenges, the team remains in a holding pattern, particularly concerning Wright’s ability to return to the field. “I know that it’s frustrating because he wants to play,” Campbell acknowledged. “But we’re just kind of in the holding pattern right now.”

With the Lions set to face the Cowboys, the status of their key players, particularly Joseph, will be crucial as they aim to secure a vital win in the playoff race.
