Kenneth Walker Shines on the Field and Partners with Oral-B
Kenneth Walker is enjoying a standout season on the football field, playing a pivotal role in the Seattle Seahawks’ pursuit of the top seed in the NFC. As the star running back continues to deliver impressive performances, he also emphasizes the importance of maintaining his health off the field, particularly when it comes to dental hygiene. This commitment has led him to team up with Oral-B, joining a growing roster of NFL players associated with the renowned oral care brand.
A Childhood Lesson on Dental Care
Walker shared his motivation for this partnership during an interview with Seahawks On SI, reflecting on the lessons he learned in childhood. “I’m always with my pops, and as a kid, he used to always tell me about my teeth. I used to love to eat candy,” he recalled, adding that his father would warn him about the potential consequences of neglecting dental care. “Obviously, I didn’t want my teeth to fall out,” Walker stated, explaining how these early lessons instilled in him the importance of taking care of his teeth.
As a professional athlete, Walker understands that caring for his body extends to dental health. “I feel like taking care of my teeth is just the same,” he noted. He personally uses the Oral-B iO Series Electric Toothbrush and appreciates its two-minute timer feature, which he feels helps him achieve a thorough clean. “It’s like I can get the perfect clean for my teeth,” he said, showcasing his enthusiasm for the product.
Seahawks in the Hunt for Top Seed
Currently, the Seahawks are contending for the top seed in the NFC, but they face fierce competition from the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers. Walker acknowledges that maintaining their position requires consistency. “I just feel like we gotta keep doing what we’ve been doing,” he expressed, reiterating the importance of the team’s mantra of going “1-0” each week.
In their upcoming matchup against the Carolina Panthers, the Seahawks will need to remain focused. Just weeks prior, the Panthers helped Seattle’s cause by defeating the Rams in Charlotte. Although Carolina holds a modest record of 8-7, they have demonstrated their ability to upset stronger teams, including a notable victory over the Green Bay Packers, who were once the top seed. Historical trends indicate that the Panthers can pose challenges to teams in strong playoff positions.
Staying Focused Amidst Distractions
To secure a win against the Panthers, Walker emphasized the necessity of keeping their focus. “We need to keep the main thing the main thing, and that’s just focusing on this game,” he said, reiterating the significance of their ongoing commitment to achieving a “1-0” record this week. The looming matchup against the 49ers in Week 18 adds an extra layer of urgency, but Walker cautioned against looking too far ahead.
Coming off an emotionally charged victory, the Seahawks are mindful of the potential for a letdown. “We’re a brotherhood,” Walker said, highlighting the unity within the team. “Everybody’s got the same mindset. Coach Mike does a great job of harping on that as well.” He mentioned that their recent meetings have reinforced the need to stay focused amidst distractions.
A Season of Growth and Unity
Under the leadership of head coach Mike Macdonald, now in his second season, the Seahawks have made significant strides. After winning 10 games in his inaugural year, they have already surpassed that mark this season and are poised for even greater success. Walker described the current team as “tight-knit,” emphasizing the camaraderie that fuels their drive. “When you know your brother’s gonna go hard for you, you’ll do the same for him on the field,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of trust and teamwork in their pursuit of excellence.
