Maxx Crosby Criticizes Justin Herbert for ‘Flop’ During Chargers-Raiders Showdown
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert faced a daunting challenge against the Las Vegas Raiders, playing through a broken hand. Following the game, he underwent surgery in an effort to prepare for his team’s upcoming matchup. Throughout the contest, Herbert was in the line of fire, notably enduring some aggressive plays from Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. One particular moment drew the ire of officials and resulted in a penalty against Crosby, who shoved Herbert late in the game.
In a candid discussion on his podcast, Crosby expressed his frustration with Herbert, accusing him of flopping after the shove. He justified his actions by revealing that he was taken aback by Herbert’s behavior during the game.
Crosby’s Podcast Remarks
On his “Let’s Go!” podcast on SiriusXM, Crosby reflected on the incident, admitting that he could have handled the situation with more composure. However, he couldn’t hide his irritation regarding Herbert’s on-field conduct.
“I just didn’t appreciate a guy that, I know him, we’ve gone to Pro Bowls together, we’ve had conversations, and he’s screaming in my ear,” Crosby explained. “He hasn’t said a word all game, you know what I mean? And he’s screaming in my ear after a first down. Come on, bro. I turn around and push him, and he flops. If you watch the film, not one of his O-linemen came and did anything to me. Nobody did anything because they knew he flopped.”
Crosby elaborated further, hinting at his willingness to engage in more direct dialogue. “I guess he got me, but if we’re gonna talk, you know how I am, I’m gonna talk to you face to face. We’re gonna talk our ,” he added.
The Controversial Play
The contentious moment, captured on film, showcased the back-and-forth between Crosby and Herbert. Fans and analysts alike have since dissected the play, debating whether Herbert’s reaction warranted Crosby’s push or if it was indeed an exaggerated response.
As the rivalry between the Chargers and Raiders continues to intensify, this incident adds another layer to an already heated competition, with both players now likely to carry this exchange into future encounters.
