Josh Allen embraces life and love as he gears up for the NFL season with Hailee Steinfeld
Josh Allen is stepping into the NFL season with a fresh perspective, one that has been shaped by significant personal milestones this offseason. On May 31, the Buffalo Bills’ star quarterback took a monumental step in his life by marrying his “best friend,” actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld. Reflecting on this pivotal moment, Allen shared with ESPN that it stands out as the most important event in his life.
“None other than marrying my best friend is the most significant,” Allen stated. “She makes everything easier, so I don’t really focus on the other stuff. That was the most important decision I’ll make in my life, and I made the right one.”
Shifting Perspectives: Family and Football
Marriage has brought a new lens through which Allen views both his personal and professional life. While he remains deeply passionate about football, he acknowledges that the family aspect and the importance of being a good person are equally, if not more, vital than his athletic pursuits.
“Obviously, I love my job. I think it’s extremely important,” Allen explained. “I do everything that I can to win games and help our team win, but the family aspect in being a good person and all that other stuff… I think that’s just as important, if not more.”
This admission may seem surprising for a player whose life has revolved around football. Yet, as Allen matures, he recognizes that there is more to life than the game he has dedicated himself to. Despite this newfound awareness, his commitment to the sport remains unwavering.
“It’s weird for me to say that because football is the only thing I’ve ever truly wanted to do,” he continued. “And knowing that there’s more in life… I think as you get older, you start to realize that. But don’t get it twisted, I still care, probably an obnoxious amount about this game and trying to bring a Lombardi here to Western New York.”
Finding Balance: Grace and Self-Criticism
As he prepares for the upcoming season, Allen is still his own toughest critic but is learning to extend himself a bit more grace.
“I mean, I still want to be my own harshest critic but maybe giving myself a little more grace,” he mentioned, showcasing his desire to strike a balance between self-expectation and self-compassion.
With a demanding NFL season ahead, Allen is poised to navigate the challenges of being a married man while leading the Bills on the field. His partnership with Steinfeld is a source of strength, and he believes that with her by his side, possibilities are endless.
“I’m going to do everything that I can to make it happen, but don’t worry about it,” Allen said. “Let’s go out there, and if I’m doing everything that I can and putting my best foot forward, sometimes the ball’s going to bounce the other way. That’s just the unfortunate part about what we play. But that’s why we play, because the outcome is unknown, and just going out there and enjoying the game that I love.”
As the season approaches, Allen’s resolve to balance his personal life and professional aspirations shines through, setting the stage for a thrilling year ahead in Buffalo.
