Jordan Love’s Concussion Protocol Status Raises Stakes as Packers Face Injury Crisis

Green Bay, Wis. – As the Green Bay Packers gear up for their critical matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, the status of quarterback Jordan Love remains a focal point. Currently in concussion protocol, Love was listed as a limited participant in Tuesday’s injury report, raising questions about his availability for Saturday’s game.

Injury Report Overview

The Packers’ injury report is extensive, featuring 53 players. Alarmingly, 20 of them—37 percent of the roster—are currently listed, including guard John Williams, who has been designated for return from injured reserve. Backup quarterback Malik Willis, also noted on the report, has been limited due to a right shoulder injury sustained in the previous game against the Chicago Bears.

This report marks the longest injury tally of the season for the Packers, with four players unable to practice. Right tackle Zach Tom is sidelined due to a knee injury suffered in Denver, while cornerback/receiver Bo Melton and defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna are battling illness.

Love’s Road to Recovery

Love’s participation in practice following his concussion during Saturday’s game against the Bears suggests he may be on track to play against the Ravens. However, head coach Matt LaFleur tempered expectations, stating, “Not necessarily. We’ve got to see how they progressed throughout the course of the week, so by no means are they in the clear.” This caution applies to Willis as well, who expressed optimism about his readiness. “It’s smooth,” Willis said of his shoulder. “I try to take it one day at a time, but I would assume that I’m going to be ready.”

Willis believes that Love will reclaim his starting position come Saturday, especially with playoff implications on the line. “He’s good. He’s chillin’,” he remarked, underscoring the confidence in Love’s potential return.

Ravens Injury Report

In contrast, the Ravens have a relatively lighter injury report, with only six players listed. Quarterback Lamar Jackson, a two-time NFL MVP, was unable to practice due to a back contusion sustained against the New England Patriots. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh described Jackson’s condition, noting, “It’s painful, certainly… He’ll be working. He’s been classified as day to day on that.”

Key Player Updates

Tom, who was inactive in the previous game, has reported feeling “a lot better” but is focused on reducing swelling and inflammation in his knee. His participation in practice this week will be crucial in determining whether he can return to action or if Jordan Morgan will need to step in once again. “I got to get out on the field and see,” Tom stated. “I can probably give you a better answer once we actually start testing it out.”

Among the eleven players listed as limited participants, running back Josh Jacobs is notable, as he continues to battle knee and ankle issues. Jacobs has been managing his knee injury for several weeks, and the added ankle concern complicates matters. LaFleur acknowledged the team’s challenging situation, expressing a desire to manage Jacobs’ health more effectively, saying, “I wish we were in a better position to do that.”

Safety Evan Williams, recovering from a sprained MCL, is hopeful about his return, stating, “I should be able to practice this week.” Williams plans to engage in individual drills before determining his readiness for full participation, maintaining a positive outlook on his recovery.
