Jordan Love draws strength from family as he steps into leadership role with Packers

As Jordan Love assumes the mantle of franchise quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, he does so buoyed by an unwavering support system that has proven to be a cornerstone of his journey. The young signal-caller, who has navigated the pressures of the NFL with grace, is surrounded by a strong network of family, including his wife, mother, and three sisters. Each plays a vital role in his life, providing him with both emotional and practical support as he charts his path in professional football.

A loving partnership with Ronika Stone Love

At the forefront of Love’s support system is his wife, Ronika Stone, a talented athlete in her own right. Ronika, who excelled as a volleyball player at the University of Oregon, is currently making waves in the Pro Volleyball Federation with the San Diego Mojo. Her impressive career includes stints with Athletes Unlimited and a championship-winning season in Puerto Rico.

The couple’s connection traces back to mutual friends, including Mo Walker, Love’s college roommate. Their relationship blossomed from a series of FaceTime conversations to an in-person meeting at Ronika’s birthday party in California. They made their relationship public in 2020, and after a heartfelt proposal in June 2024, they tied the knot a year later.

Ronika has witnessed Love’s transformation into a leader firsthand. “Now watching him run out and take over the team for himself, it’s been incredible,” she shared in an interview. “Being there in the offseason and watching him put in all of the work…it’s remarkable to see and makes me want to work harder in my sport.”

A legacy of excellence in the family

Compounding the strength of their partnership is the influence of Ronika’s father, Ron Stone, a former NFL offensive lineman. With a storied 13-year career that spanned teams like the Cowboys, Giants, 49ers, and Raiders, Ron achieved significant milestones, including two Super Bowl victories and multiple Pro Bowl selections. His legacy of excellence undoubtedly resonates with Jordan as he strives to carve out his own place in NFL history.

The enduring impact of Orbin Love

While Love is buoyed by a supportive family, he carries with him the profound memory of his late father, Orbin Love. A high school quarterback turned running back, Orbin dedicated his post-football life to serving as a police officer in Bakersfield until his untimely passing at the age of 51. His dedication extended beyond his profession; he was also a Sunday school teacher and Youth Pastor, instilling values of hard work and perseverance in his community.

Orbin harbored dreams of seeing his son play in the NFL, a vision that tragically took on a poignant significance when Jordan lost his father to suicide at the age of 14. This loss almost drove Jordan to quit football altogether, but the encouragement of his mother spurred him to continue pursuing his passion. Today, as the starting quarterback for the Packers, Jordan is not just fulfilling his own aspirations; he is honoring his father’s legacy.

The juxtaposition of family support and personal loss shapes Love’s journey in the NFL. As he leads the Packers, he stands not only as a quarterback but as a testament to resilience, driven by the memories of his father and the unwavering support of his loved ones. Each game he plays is a tribute to those who have shaped him, and the strength he draws from his family is as vital as the skills he hones on the field.
