Jordan Davis dismisses Pro Bowl speculation as Eagles gear up for Bills showdown
Jordan Davis is tuning out any Pro Bowl discussions. The Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive tackle is singularly focused as Week 17 approaches, with a challenging matchup against the Buffalo Bills on the horizon. Set to face a Bills squad riding a four-game winning streak, Davis’s priorities are clear: securing a victory.
“We wanna win; that’s it,” Davis stated emphatically in an interview with NBC Philly’s John Clark following the Eagles’ triumph over the Washington Commanders, which clinched their second consecutive NFC East title. “We wanna win each week, (be) 1-0, and that’s the only thing because at the end of the day, once you get to that big dance, it’s going to be 1-0 each week. I’ll leave that (Pro Bowl talk) to the people. We’ll just keep working.”
Davis’s Rise to Prominence
The NFL landscape is dotted with exceptional defensive tackles, and Davis is making his mark among them. His journey to this point has not been without challenges, but his hard work and dedication are now increasingly evident on the field.
In the Eagles’ recent 29-18 victory over the Commanders, Davis recorded six tackles, bringing his season total to an impressive 65. This figure surpasses his previous career-high of 45, achieved just last season. His performance this year has been nothing short of stellar, with personal bests in several key defensive categories:
Sacks: 4.5
Tackles for loss: 9
Quarterback hits: 6
This is precisely the level of impact the Eagles envisioned when they traded up to select him 13th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.
A New Mindset Fuels Performance
Davis’s growth as a player has been marked by a period of self-reflection and determination. His transformation into a dominant force on the defensive line is a testament to his commitment to improvement and his eagerness to contribute to the team’s success. As the Eagles prepare to face the Bills in potentially snowy conditions, Davis remains steadfast in his focus on what truly matters: winning.
With the stakes high and the postseason looming, Davis and the Eagles are ready to embrace the challenges ahead, prioritizing team success over individual accolades.
