Joe Flacco seeks milestone victory against former team Ravens

As a veteran quarterback with a wealth of experience, Joe Flacco has enjoyed an illustrious career that has seen him accumulate a significant number of wins. Now at the helm of the Cleveland Browns, the 40-year-old has a unique opportunity to join a prestigious club this Sunday. A victory over the Baltimore Ravens, the franchise he once led to a Super Bowl championship, would mark a significant milestone for Flacco, allowing him to secure wins against 31 of the NFL’s 32 teams.

Chasing History

Flacco enters the matchup with a remarkable track record, having achieved victories against 30 different NFL teams throughout his career. However, the Ravens remain the lone exception, as Flacco has yet to claim a win against the team that drafted him and where he found considerable success. Should he manage to overcome Baltimore, he would become the 11th player in NFL history to accomplish the feat of winning against 31 teams, a testament to his longevity and skill in the league.

While Flacco has never faced the Seattle Seahawks—holding a record of 0-1 against them—he will not have the chance to rectify that this season. Notably, four quarterbacks—Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady—have succeeded in notching wins against every team in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers, who also has 31 victories under his belt, could potentially reach the same milestone if his Steelers face and defeat the Packers this year.

Join the Exclusive Ranks

Currently, five active quarterbacks have achieved wins over 31 NFL teams: Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Ben Roethlisberger, Alex Smith, and Kerry Collins. Interestingly, Matthew Stafford has the chance to join this elite group as well, as the Rams are set to play against the Tennessee Titans on the same day.

An Uphill Battle

Flacco and the Browns face a challenging road ahead as they head into Baltimore as heavy underdogs. The Ravens are celebrating 30 years of football in their city, a poignant reminder of the franchise’s history and its roots in Cleveland. This celebration serves as a backdrop to the rivalry, highlighting the emotional stakes for Flacco as he attempts to upset his former team.

For Flacco, the prospect of not just winning, but achieving a personal milestone against the Ravens adds an extra layer of motivation. A victory this Sunday would not only be a sweet triumph over his past but also an opportunity to solidify his legacy within the league.
