Joe Burrow Claims Eighth AFC POTW Award and Aims for Bengals History

CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow has once again proven his prowess on the field, earning the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award after a stellar performance in the Bengals’ 45-21 victory over the Miami Dolphins. In a display of remarkable efficiency, the Bengals quarterback completed 25 of 32 passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns, all while avoiding turnovers. This performance stands in stark contrast to last week’s struggles against the Baltimore Ravens, marking one of Burrow’s most productive outings in the NFL.

Burrow’s latest accolade brings his career total to eight AFC Player of the Week awards, placing him just behind Bengals legend Boomer Esiason, who holds the franchise record with nine. Since entering the league in 2020, Burrow has amassed the fourth-most Player of the Week honors among quarterbacks, trailing only Josh Allen (16), Lamar Jackson (nine), and Patrick Mahomes (nine).

Aiming for Momentum

Throughout his career, Burrow has established himself as a consistent force, and he is determined to finish this season strong despite the frustrations that have marked it. After the game, he reflected on the victory, stating, “That’s how it’s supposed to look like. That’s what it’s supposed to feel like, so we’ve got to keep that feeling going the next couple of weeks and build some momentum.”

His leadership was particularly evident in the second half, where the Bengals maintained control and ensured that the Dolphins could not mount a comeback. “When you have a chance to put it away or go up two scores or three scores, you have to take those opportunities because teams in the NFL are too good to let them hang around,” Burrow emphasized. He recognized the competitive nature of the league, noting, “Guys on the other side of the field are going to make plays, that’s how this league goes. When you have a chance to do it, you’ve got to take advantage.”

Looking Ahead to the Cardinals

As Burrow gears up for the upcoming matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, the Bengals’ quarterback is focused on continuing his impressive performance. With the momentum from this latest win, both he and the team are poised to build upon their success, as they aim to make a significant impact in the remainder of the season.
