Jerry Jones Thrilled About DeMarvion Overshown’s Imminent Return to the Cowboys

The excitement is palpable among the Dallas Cowboys organization as owner Jerry Jones eagerly anticipates the return of linebacker DeMarvion Overshown to the team. Fresh off the NFL trade deadline, where the Cowboys made strategic moves to bolster their struggling defense, the prospect of Overshown’s comeback adds another layer of optimism.

Injury Updates and Team Enhancements

As the Cowboys work to improve their defensive lineup, COO Stephen Jones recently hinted at the potential return of starting safety Malik Hooker, a move that would significantly strengthen the secondary. Now, Jerry Jones has chimed in, indicating that Overshown is on the cusp of returning to action.

In a Tuesday interview on 105.3 The Fan with hosts Shan and RJ, Jerry expressed his enthusiasm for Overshown’s progress. The owner noted that the linebacker has undergone an impressive rehabilitation process, showcasing remarkable movement and agility during training camp.

High Hopes for Overshown’s Impact

“He has had, frankly, an amazing rehab. He was moving really good at training camp,” Jones said. “He’s been very active, moving up and down in practices. He’s a great, talented player, and overachieving is his makeup. Fundamentally, I would expect him to step right in and be familiar with what we’re doing. It’s going to be interesting to see how many snaps he plays.”

Despite the excitement surrounding his return, it remains uncertain exactly when Overshown will rejoin the lineup. Speculations are swirling about whether he could make an appearance next week against the Raiders, but expectations for a substantial snap count may be tempered.

A Look Back at Overshown’s Performance

Before his injury last season, Overshown was a dynamic force on the field, racking up 90 total tackles, five sacks, and an interception returned for a touchdown. His versatility and strong performance earned him recognition, as he ranked 11th out of 83 graded linebackers in PFF pass rush grade with a notable score of 78.9.

The potential return of Overshown, combined with the recent acquisitions of players like Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, along with the expected recoveries of Malik Hooker and rookie corner Shevon Revel, suggests a brightening outlook for the Cowboys’ defense. As Dallas prepares for the upcoming games, the infusion of talent and the promising return of key players could signal a formidable shift in their defensive capabilities.

The buzz around the Cowboys is growing, and as fans and analysts alike await Overshown’s return, the anticipation for what he can contribute to the team is unmistakable.
