Jared Goff leads Lions to decisive 34-10 victory over Browns

In a commanding display at Ford Field, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff orchestrated his team’s third consecutive win, defeating the Cleveland Browns 34-10. While Goff’s stats—completing 16 of 27 passes for two touchdowns and one interception—may not reflect peak efficiency, he made crucial throws at pivotal moments, steering the offense effectively throughout the game.

Goff on St. Brown’s Performance

After the game, Goff praised the contributions of wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. “He’s playing well,” Goff remarked. “I would’ve loved to get him more involved a little bit today, but just the way the game worked. He had those two touchdowns—his second one really took some effort to secure, while the first was more straightforward. We’ll both take those.”

A Complementary Team Effort

Goff acknowledged the collective effort that propelled the Lions to victory. “Sure, I think Dan (Campbell) said it great after the game. Good, yeah we are going to be happy, but we can be so much better, certainly offensively,” he noted. “The defense played outstanding, right? That’s a good defense, and they do present a lot of problems. If you take away Kalif (Raymond)’s punt return, we scored 27 points. It’s not that I’m saying that’s good enough because there were a lot of little things that could’ve been better. It’s still a winning performance, and I’m proud of our guys for fighting through some early adversity.”

Connection with Williams

Despite the victory, Goff expressed a desire for better chemistry with fellow wide receiver Jameson Williams. “We would love to go to him as much as possible—he’s as good of a player as there is in this League,” Goff stated. “He was open on some plays and covered on others. I made a really poor decision on the interception that had nothing to do with getting him the ball. I saw it poorly and got reckless there—one I’d like back. I thought Jamo did fine; he had a couple drops, but he’s been very consistent throughout the week. I’ve got no reservations with him at all.”

Offensive Line’s Dominance

Goff also credited the Lions’ offensive line for their superb performance against Cleveland’s defensive star, Myles Garrett. “He’s a Hall of Fame player, and we’ve got two really good tackles,” Goff noted. “(Taylor) Decker and (Penei) Sewell were incredible. They handled him well, and we had a plan for him, but much of the time they were on their own with him. Zero sacks is a big deal.”

Addressing Critics

When asked if this performance addressed any critics, Goff shrugged it off. “Don’t care. If anyone has questions, keep them coming. We don’t care,” he said confidently.

Adjustments and Strategy

Discussing strategic adjustments, Goff elaborated on changing a play at the line of scrimmage during a crucial moment. “It’s a pressure they brought before. I recognized it and checked it. I made a check that put (Sam) LaPorta on Myles (Garrett), which was ill-advised and is on me,” he admitted. “But we got a similar look on the next drive, and (Amon-Ra) St. Brown scored.”

The Value of a Strong Offensive Line

Goff emphasized the importance of a solid offensive line, stating, “It’s huge. We have two first-round tackles who are studs. Having a plan for a guy like Myles (Garrett) is important, and we had a plan. Being able to leave those guys on an island is critical.”

Raymond’s Impact on the Team

Finally, Goff expressed his admiration for wide receiver Kalif Raymond, calling him “amazing” and describing him as a vital presence within the team. “He’s one of those heartbeat guys for us—does everything right every day. I love having him as a teammate; he breathes life into people. It’s fun seeing him succeed, but it’s not surprising—he’s a stud, and I hope he keeps doing it.”

With Goff at the helm and a well-rounded team effort, the Lions are building momentum as they look forward to their next challenge.
