Ja’Marr Chase shines, ends scoring drought with historic touchdowns in Bengals’ commanding win

CINCINNATI — The Bengals delivered an impressive performance on Sunday, securing a 37-14 victory over the Cardinals at Paycor Stadium. With this win, Cincinnati has now achieved back-to-back victories for only the second time this season, improving their record to 6-10, while boasting a commendable 5-2 mark with Joe Burrow at the helm.

Chase and Burrow lead the charge

Joe Burrow showcased poise and precision, while Ja’Marr Chase accomplished his mission of finding the end zone. After an eight-game drought without a touchdown, Chase erupted with two scoring receptions. He concluded the game with seven catches for 60 yards, marking a significant milestone in his early career.

With his two touchdowns, Chase etched his name in the record books as the first player in NFL history to achieve at least 80 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards, and seven touchdown receptions in each of his first five seasons. Burrow, for his part, completed 24 of 31 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns. This performance brought his career total of 300-yard games to 28, tying him with Andy Dalton for the most in Bengals franchise history.

Chase Brown’s standout performance

Running back Chase Brown was another key contributor, amassing 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns at an impressive 4.6 yards per carry. In addition to his ground game, he added three receptions for 40 yards, totaling 141 yards from scrimmage, which stands as the third-highest mark in his NFL career.

Cody Ford’s memorable birthday catch

In an unexpected highlight, offensive lineman Cody Ford made a notable reception, catching a 21-yard pass during the third quarter. This catch is tied for the third-longest by an offensive lineman since 2000, according to statistical insights. Only Ty Sambrailo (DEN, 35 yards) and Jake Fisher (CIN, 31 yards) have had longer receptions in that span. Ford’s catch came on his 29th birthday, adding a special touch to the moment.

The Bengals delivered a performance that not only showcased their offensive talent but also solidified their position as a competitive force in the league. As they continue to build momentum, the combination of Burrow’s leadership and Chase’s explosive playmaking will be crucial as they navigate the remainder of the season.
