Jaguars’ Liam Coen Keeps Focus Sharp Ahead of Colts Clash

Jacksonville, Fla. — Despite already securing a playoff berth, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen insists that the team’s mindset remains unchanged as they gear up for a critical rematch against the Indianapolis Colts. Coen’s steadfast commitment to maintaining focus is evident as the Jaguars prepare for this pivotal matchup.

Playoff Scenarios on the Horizon

The Jaguars have the opportunity to clinch the AFC South title in Week 17, contingent on their own victory and a Houston Texans loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. With the Texans set to play on Saturday night, the Jaguars will be aware of their playoff positioning before taking the field on Sunday. However, Coen is adamant that such considerations are not part of the team’s current focus.

“We haven’t talked about those kind of goals,” Coen stated on Wednesday. “It’s more about competing like champions every week and every day, going through the process, and seeing what happens.” He emphasized the importance of staying present, adding, “We’re really trying to just stick within this day, be where we’re at, and compete against a good Colts team this week.”

Recap of Previous Encounter

Just two weeks prior, the Jaguars delivered a commanding performance against the Colts at EverBank Stadium. However, that game unfolded under significantly different circumstances, as the Colts lost starting quarterback Daniel Jones to a non-contact injury early on. This setback visibly impacted the Colts’ morale during their attempted comeback.

In the wake of Jones’ injury, veteran quarterback Philip Rivers stepped in, bringing a renewed energy to the Colts. While Rivers has yet to secure a win in his two starts, his leadership has kept the team competitive week after week. The Jaguars are well aware that they will face a determined opponent eager to prove their mettle.

Looking Ahead

As the Jaguars prepare for this crucial matchup, Coen’s approach underscores a dedication to process over outcomes. The focus remains on executing their game plan and rising to the challenge presented by the Colts. With playoff aspirations looming, the Jaguars are intent on maintaining their momentum and proving their readiness for the postseason.
