Jaguars Gear Up for Colts Rematch After Struggling at Lucas Oil Stadium
The Jacksonville Jaguars have navigated a tumultuous week, but now they must shift their attention to a familiar adversary. This Sunday, the Jaguars face off against the Indianapolis Colts in a crucial AFC South rematch that could have significant implications for both teams.
Recent Podcast Insights
In the latest episode of the Jacksonville Jaguars Insider Podcast, discussions revolved around the upcoming Week 17 showdown against the Colts. The Colts have historically posed a significant challenge for the Jaguars, particularly at Lucas Oil Stadium, where Jacksonville holds a dismal 2-10 record over the past 12 seasons. The team’s only victories at this venue came in 2017 and 2023.
Last season, the Jaguars suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Colts, but both teams have undergone substantial changes since that encounter.
Strategic Adjustments Ahead
This matchup marks a unique scenario for Jaguars offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who is preparing a game plan for the Colts just weeks after their last meeting in Jacksonville. Coen acknowledged the challenges of crafting a strategy so soon after facing the same opponent.
“Yeah, because they only had two games in between. You’ve got two games, and you’re usually working off at least a four-game initial break,” Coen explained earlier this week. “In your break, you’re talking four-to-six game break. So, we’re right in the break when you’re showing players your cutups and you’re showing them okay, these are the third-down coverages, red zone, whatever. We’re in those cutups. So, they’re constantly seeing that game.”
A Critical Matchup for Playoff Aspirations
As the Jaguars prepare for this pivotal matchup, the stakes are high. With the playoffs on the horizon, every game counts, particularly against division rivals like the Colts. The Jaguars will aim to overcome their recent struggles at Lucas Oil Stadium and secure a victory that could bolster their standing in the AFC South.
