Colts Shake Up Roster with Return of All-Pro George Odum

The Indianapolis Colts made headlines this week with a series of significant roster moves. The team announced on Tuesday that they have signed four players to their practice squad, marking an intriguing shift in their lineup.

George Odum Makes a Triumphant Return

Among the new additions is safety George Odum, who is no stranger to Indianapolis. After spending the first four years of his career with the Colts, Odum returns following a three-year tenure with the San Francisco 49ers. His return is marked by impressive accolades; Odum earned AP First Team All-Pro honors in 2020 for his exceptional special teams performance and followed that up with AP Second Team All-Pro recognition in 2022.

During his initial stint with the Colts, Odum started 10 games at safety, notably seven in the 2021 season. Over the course of 105 regular-season games, he has accumulated 200 total tackles, 3 interceptions, 9 passes defended, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. His experience and postseason pedigree make him a valuable asset as the Colts navigate the latter part of the season.

Defensive Line Reinforcements

In addition to Odum, the Colts have also bolstered their defensive line by signing Chris Wormley. The team made this move officially known on Tuesday after the defensive lineman had been reported to be joining the squad. Wormley steps in following the injury to DeForest Buckner, who has been placed on injured reserve with a neck issue.

Wormley is no stranger to the NFL, having played in 87 games with 31 starts. He brings a solid track record, including 11 sacks, 150 total tackles (14 for loss), 23 quarterback hits, 10 passes defended, and 2 forced fumbles. His most recent stint was with the Baltimore Ravens, the team that drafted him in 2017.

New Faces on the Roster

The Colts have also signed Viliami Fehoko Jr., a fourth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2023 draft. Despite not having recorded an official snap in the NFL due to injuries, the Colts are offering him a chance to showcase his talent after he was released by the Washington Commanders.

The moves reflect the Colts’ urgency to strengthen their squad as they prepare for the challenges ahead in the season. With the addition of seasoned players and new prospects, the Colts are positioning themselves for a competitive push.
