Giants’ Quarterback Carousel Spins Again

The New York Giants have experienced a remarkable level of turnover at the quarterback position since wide receiver Malik Nabers entered the NFL. This week, the team made a bold decision to bench veteran Russell Wilson and turn to rookie Jaxson Dart, marking Dart as the sixth quarterback with whom Nabers has shared the field in just 19 games.

Chasing a Rare TD Milestone

With Dart under center, Nabers has a unique opportunity to achieve an uncommon milestone. According to reports, if he catches a touchdown pass from Dart in the next two games, he would become the first player since at least 1991 to haul in touchdown receptions from five different quarterbacks within the first 20 games of his career. The quarterbacks from whom Nabers has scored during his brief time in the league include Daniel Jones, Russell Wilson, Drew Lock, and Tim Boyle—a rather eclectic mix that highlights the Giants’ struggles at the position.

Injury Concerns Loom

However, Nabers’ pursuit of this significant achievement is contingent upon his health. He surfaced on the injury report this week due to a shoulder issue, which kept him from practicing on Wednesday. Fortunately, he showed signs of improvement during Thursday’s limited practice session, indicating he might be on track to suit up for the upcoming game.

A Vital Role Against a Tough Defense

Nabers’ role in the Giants’ offense is particularly critical this week. His presence will be essential for Dart, who faces the daunting task of making his NFL debut against a formidable Los Angeles Chargers defense. The stakes are high, and the Giants will look to Nabers to provide the support needed as they navigate this challenging matchup.

NFL News Highlights

In other NFL news, the league has refuted reports regarding a denied request from the Steelers for a Dublin trip. Aaron Rodgers expressed dissatisfaction with the Steelers’ travel schedule for the same event. Additionally, potential trade partners for an eight-time Pro Bowler have surfaced, with the 49ers, Cowboys, and Colts mentioned, while the Rams and Jets are considered suitors for a 23-year-old quarterback.
