Fantasy football fans face Green Bay WR conundrum in Week 2: Is Doubs the secret weapon against Commanders?

Fantasy Football Dilemma: Green Bay WRs in Week 2

As Week 2 of the NFL season kicks off, fantasy football managers are faced with tough start-sit decisions, particularly regarding the Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver corps ahead of their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders. With options like Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs in the mix, many are left wondering who to trust in their lineups. Let’s break down the current situation for each player.

Jayden Reed’s Limited Potential

For Jayden Reed, the outlook in fantasy football for Week 2 is not promising. He is projected to be a sit, as he does not feature in the top-44 wide receivers according to rankings. In the season opener against the Detroit Lions, Reed garnered five targets but failed to secure any rushing attempts, which could have potentially added to his value.

With only five opportunities in a pass-heavy offense that often distributes targets and funnels touchdowns to running backs and tight ends, Reed’s viability as a fantasy starter is questionable. Thus, for those looking for reliable production, sitting Reed may be the prudent choice this week.

Matthew Golden’s Developmental Stage

Similarly, Matthew Golden finds himself in a position where he should be benched this week. Like Reed, he also falls short of the top-44 receivers in the rankings. In Week 1, Golden caught both of his targets for a modest 16 yards. While he shows promise for the future, his current performance lacks the consistency needed for fantasy lineups.

Golden’s trajectory may see him become a valuable asset down the road, but for now, he needs to establish himself further before being considered a trustworthy option in fantasy football.

Romeo Doubs: A Case for Inclusion

Romeo Doubs presents a more intriguing scenario. Although he is not ranked among the top-44 receivers, there’s a compelling argument for considering him in your lineup this week. Doubs had a productive outing in Week 1, finishing with two receptions for 68 yards on four targets, including a notable 48-yard catch.

As Jordan Love’s preferred deep-ball target, Doubs has the potential to deliver big plays and touchdowns, making him a player to watch. Among the Packers’ wideouts, he is also the most likely candidate to receive end zone targets for contested catches. While it may be sensible to sit all three receivers, Doubs stands out as the one with the most upside heading into the Thursday night clash.

Ultimately, while the options in Green Bay’s receiving corps are not ideal, Doubs and Reed provide slightly more potential for impact in Week 2, particularly for those searching for a spark in their fantasy lineups.
