Falcons Receive Encouraging Injury Updates Ahead of Saints Showdown

The Atlanta Falcons are gearing up for a pivotal Week 12 clash against their rivals, the New Orleans Saints, and recent injury reports have brought a glimmer of hope for the struggling franchise. After suffering five consecutive losses, dropping their record to 3-7, the Falcons are eager to regain their footing.

Key Players on the Mend

In the latest injury report, the Falcons received positive news regarding several key players. While quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and likely absence of receiver Drake London loom large, there are signs of recovery among others that could bolster the team’s chances on Sunday.

Linebacker Josh Woods and defensive lineman Zach Harrison were not present for practice again, raising concerns about their availability as both missed last Sunday’s game due to injuries. Their absence could be felt deeply, but the return of other players provides a silver lining.

Notable Returns to Practice

Rookie safety Xavier Watts, who was sidelined Wednesday due to illness, returned to practice on Thursday. Right guard Chris Lindstrom, recovering from a foot injury sustained against New England, was also back on the field, albeit in a limited capacity. This is a promising development for the offensive line.

Left guard Matthew Bergeron participated in practice for the first time since suffering an ankle injury. He expressed optimism about his potential return against the Saints, emphasizing the importance of monitoring his health throughout the week.

Mike Hughes Poised for Comeback

Starting cornerback Mike Hughes was a full participant in Thursday’s practice, suggesting he could return after missing the last two games. His experience could be invaluable against a potent Saints offense.

Linebacker Divine Deablo, who suffered a forearm fracture earlier in the season, was designated to return and participated with a protective club on his arm. Coach Raheem Morris has expressed hope for Deablo’s return, noting his physical attributes may help mitigate any challenges posed by the club. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich also praised Deablo’s resilience, stating that his length could compensate for any limitations in tackling or ball handling.

Other Injury Updates

Edge rusher Leonard Floyd and linebacker Malik Verdon were limited in their practice participation. Floyd has been nursing a hamstring issue, while Verdon is recovering from a shoulder injury. Cornerback Dee Alford, still in concussion protocol, practiced again and elevated from limited to full participation, indicating he may soon make his return.
