Drake London aims for victory in Berlin showdown
The Atlanta Falcons are set to take on the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday in a highly anticipated international matchup in Berlin, Germany. As the clock ticks down to kickoff at 9:30 a.m. EST, all eyes will be on wide receiver Drake London, who has emerged as a key player for the Falcons this season.
From Small Town to Global Stage
Born and raised in the quaint town of Moorepark, California, London’s journey to the NFL has been nothing short of remarkable. Reflecting on his path from small-town dreams to the grandest stages of professional football, London shared his thoughts on the surreal nature of competing internationally.
“I can remember my little eight-year-old self just thinking about what it would be like playing in the league,” he recalled. “My dad always told me that football could take you a lot of places. I didn’t know it meant Germany or London or something like that, but here I am, and it’s crazy.”
The 21-year-old receiver has certainly lived out those childhood aspirations, having made his mark in the NFL. This will be the second international game of his career, following a previous appearance in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars during Week 4 of the 2023 season. Despite a disappointing 23-7 loss in that matchup, London managed to score Atlanta’s lone touchdown, finishing with three receptions for 28 yards.
A Singular Focus on Winning
While the thrill of international competition is undeniable, London’s priorities remain crystal clear. When asked about his mindset heading into the game, he emphasized the importance of securing a much-needed victory.
“Just go out there, get the first win,” he said with determination. “So we can get the domino effect and just keep on stacking wins.”
The Falcons currently sit at 3-5, a stark contrast to the playoff aspirations they held at the beginning of the season. With each game increasingly critical, the Falcons are keenly aware of the challenges that lie ahead. They face a formidable Colts team, one that has won four of its last five games and has only two losses on the season.
For London, however, the mantra remains simple: focus on achieving that first win of the international campaign. As the Falcons prepare to take the field in Berlin, he is determined to create another unforgettable moment on a global stage, one that ideally concludes with a victory over the Colts.
